Shipping and Receiving Associate

Job Summary

Supports Savers vision by assisting drivers to properly unload donations onto carts in the warehouse, separating soft and hard goods, large items and furniture, weighing carts, organizing full carts in warehouse, accurately completing route paperwork with weights and truck checks of empty trucks, loading trailers according to specific Savers guidelines, continuously recording product weights and type while loading trailers, assist with daily counting and entry of Stock on Hand. Assist in loading/unloading trucks for transfers to stores.

Roles and Duties:

• Implements truck/trailer loading and unloading procedures as directed by supervisors
• Assembles various items such as boxes and bags on carts to confirm their weights
• Place bulky items in the assigned location for proper organization
• Set up the furniture within the specified location
• Responsible for the upkeep of aisles and walkways, ensuring they are clear of debris.
• Properly employ a calculator to subtract or add tare weights from loaded carts of goods and calculate the net weights successfully
• Document the cart numbers, weights, and unload durations in the driver's route paperwork
• Comply with the completion of Savers Delivery Reports by incorporating all the necessary details
• Document the daily inventory count of stock in the warehouse and trailers using the proper forms
• Verifies the compliance of forklifts with the safety and operational standards dictated by Savers policies and state regulations.
• Be ready to fulfill other assignments as needed, such as maintaining cleanliness in the office and restroom spaces

Qualifications:

• Sound understanding of OSHA, state, and Savers safety guidelines and mandates is essential for fostering a culture of safety within the organization
• Demonstrated organization skills
• Skill set for operating a forklift
• Skill in transmitting information verbally and via written communication
• Managing the simultaneous handling of multiple inbound and outbound truck deliveries
• Competence in creating receiving documentation and load manifests
• Capacity to decode and understand instructions presented in written, oral, visual, or structured forms
• Skill in organizing priorities, adapting to deadlines, and handling multiple tasks independently with minimal direction
• Proficiency in meticulous attention to detail.
• Can occasionally bear loads of up to 70 lbs in weight
• The technique involved in using a pallet jack by applying force in a pulling or pushing motion to transport goods efficiently
• Skill in pushing or pulling loaded carts onto the scale to obtain weight readings
• Capability to perform well in a warehouse environment that may have extreme temperatures
• The continuous ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift is crucial for effectively accomplishing daily tasks

Education and Experience:

• The accomplishment of a high school diploma or an analogous qualification is pivotal for personal development and higher education pursuits
• A plus point for applicants is experience in docks or warehouses
• Forklift training certification
• Employing the right lifting methods and procedures is essential for injury prevention and ensuring a secure working environment
